Zhejiang Province: Home of China’s Indigenous Entrepreneurship
Zhejiang Province, along with the provincial capital, Hangzhou, is the wealthiest and most entrepreneurially driven province in China. Zhejiang, the first and only province in China with no counties on the central governments poverty list, is the home of China’s greatest stories of bottom-up entrepreneurship and market based financing. Its urban population earns 4.5 times more interest on investments than its Shanghai counterparts and collects 5.3 times more income from dividends. The province is home to 3.4 times as many successful entrepreneurs as the next closest province, Shanghai.
The province’s economic model, now referred to as the “Zhejiang model”, is based on giving strict priority to entrepreneurship, private initiatives, and a long history of private sector lending. Hangzhou, China and the Four Seasons
Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province, is renowned for its historic relics and natural beauty. It is known as one of the most scenically beautiful cities in China, ranked as such, year after year. Unlike many cities in China, Hangzhou has managed to retain much of its traditional history, even after experiencing a dramatic growth in urban development.
Just to the north of the city center, surrounded by notable historic relics, Hangzhou’s West Lake is one of the city’s most cherished attractions. The lakeside Four Seasons Hangzhou blends centuries of tradition with contemporary style, in one of China’s most picturesque settings.
